Today Weather News: Mercury is falling in many states. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert warning of fog in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, alert of severe cold has been issued from Punjab, Haryana to Delhi. In many parts of Maharashtra the mercury has been recorded up to 5 degrees below normal. Many districts of Bihar are in the grip of severe cold.
Weather News: The weather is constantly changing, not only North India but also Central and Western India are in the grip of severe cold. Fog has also engulfed more than half a dozen states of the country. IMD has released the weather report for Thursday morning. Orange alert has been issued in view of dense fog in Uttar Pradesh, while many districts of Bihar and Jharkhand are in the grip of severe cold. From Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand to Delhi NCR and Chandigarh, the mercury has reached 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal. In the north, fresh rain was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Due to rain in the mountains, there is a possibility of severe cold in the plains.
The Meteorological Department said that a fresh western disturbance is likely to form in the western Himalayan region from December 13. Due to this, there is a possibility of severe cold in Delhi NCR to Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. The same weather department has issued a yellow alert of dense fog in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Dense fog alert has been issued in other states like Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Seven Sisters of North East.
Mercury also dropped in Maharashtra
The western part of the country is also in the grip of severe cold. The temperature has dropped significantly in Gujarat and Maharashtra. In many areas of Maharashtra, especially the landlocked areas, the mercury has dropped to 5 degrees below normal. Cold wave conditions persist in these areas for the second consecutive day. Apart from this, the temperature has gone down from Pune to Nashik due to cold wave conditions in Vidarbha and Marathwada.
How will the weather be today?
According to Skymet Weather, the weather conditions across the country today are likely to be as follows-
- There is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places along with light rain in Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Light rain and heavy snowfall is possible in the Western Himalayas from December 13.
- There is a possibility of the mercury falling further in Delhi-NCR. Additionally, strong westerly winds will further increase the melting.
- Almost all the states of North-East India may remain in the grip of dense fog.
- There is a possibility of fog in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of dense fog in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
