Gohana. Haryana CM Nayab Saini announced to make Hansi a new district in Hansi, Hisar. After this announcement, people there jumped with joy. But now disappointment is visible on the faces of every resident of Gohana, Sonipat. Because there was a demand to make Gohana also a district.
In fact, despite the promise of making Gohana of Sonipat a district, now people are feeling cheated for the second time. For the first time in 2016, Charkhi Dadri was made a district and for the second time now it has been announced to make Hansi a district. But Gohana’s demand was ignored. Not only BJP, be it Congress or INLD or any other political parties, all of them promised to make Gohana a district while being in opposition, but after coming to power, they looked away in the tone of who are you and who am I. Someone gave a lollipop of providing facilities equal to the district, while someone denied the eligibility of the district during his government and as soon as he reached the opposition, he again took out the promise of making Gohana a district from the closed box.
Actually, Gohana was given the status of Tehsil by the British Government in 1826 i.e. 199 years ago. The areas which were much smaller than Gohana or became tehsils after Gohana, became districts and Gohana remained in the shadows. When various other districts including Panchkula and Charkhi Dadri can be made districts having only two assembly constituencies each, then what is the problem for Gohana consisting of Gohana and Baroda circles? People are asking this question.
No matter which political party is in power, Gohana has always made one demand very vocally. We don’t need anything else, just make it a district, once the district is made the path to development will automatically be paved, but no one took this demand seriously. This is not a hidden truth, it is an open book that whatever place becomes a district, if separate funds are allocated for its development, its development gets wings.
Although this question of Gohana is raised by all the political parties who have been in power, but since the present government is of BJP, in such a situation BJP will have to satisfy this curiosity of the common people of Gohana. What is the ineligibility of Gohana that it is being deprived of the right to become a district.
was widely publicized
It was widely publicized that after Charkhi Dadri becomes the 22nd district, the 23rd district will be none other than Gohana. But Gohana’s rights were kept on a platter and served to Hansi. Now the question is hanging in the air whether the 24th district will also become Gohana or not, or once again Gohana will be left to its fate. Gohana’s dream of becoming a district has remained a mirage. Whether this will turn into reality or not, only time can tell. It is about to be 200 years since Gohana became a tehsil, but it is difficult to realize the dream of Gohana becoming a district in 2026 because any administrative change will be possible at the national level only after the new census is completed in June 2027. It was earlier decided that Naib Singh Saini’s government can make new changes only till 31 December 2025. In the same series, Hansi has been made a district before this deadline.
The minister had made a promise, now it’s his turn to fulfill it
The toughest test is that of Cabinet Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma as the first MLA of Gohana constituency. A major role in his victory was his promise that if Vijayashree selected him, he would get the district built within 6 months. This period has expired. Till now, the public of Gohana is keeping an eye on their public representative to see when their election promise will finally take shape. On the other hand, former Congress MLA Jagbir Malik also took a dig at Gohana for not making it a district and asked Minister Arvind Sharma for more information on not making it a district. Now the common people or the special people are so disappointed over Gohana not being made a district that they are heartbroken.
