Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s mother-in-law passed away. She was ill for a long time. On Friday, he was admitted to IGIMS, Patna, where he breathed his last at 6:40 pm. His age was 90 years. Grandson Nishant Kumar attended his grandmother’s last journey. Let us tell you that CM Nitish’s wife died in the year 2007 itself. In such a situation, there are only Nitish and Nishant in the family. Whereas Nitish’s brother and sister live separately.
Nitish Kumar is originally a resident of Kalyan Bigha village under Harnaut in Nalanda district. Whereas he was born on 1 March 1951 in Bakhtiyarpur of Patna district. His father Ramlakhan Singh was a freedom fighter and a renowned practitioner of Ayurveda (‘Kaviraj’). He was a member of the Congress Party. He wanted to contest from Congress in the first general elections of 1952, but he did not get the ticket. Nitish Kumar’s mother Parameshwari Devi was a housewife. Nitish is one of his three brothers. Nitish Kumar is the youngest among the siblings. Brother’s name is Satish Kumar. Whereas, Usha Devi, Prabha Devi and Indu Devi are his sisters. According to the information, Satish Kumar is also a doctor of Ayurveda like his father and lives in the village. While sisters are housewives.
Wife had given savings to contest elections
Nitish Kumar was married in 1973. Wife’s name was Manju Kumari Sinha (late). Manju was a teacher by profession. Let us tell you that Nitish Kumar got married during his studies. He was actively working in politics. Nitish Kumar had initially lost two consecutive elections. In the 1985 assembly elections, Nitish had decided that this would be the last attempt. If you don’t win, you will never contest elections again. According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, in the book ‘Nitish Kumar: Through the eyes of intimate friends’, friend Mita tells that Nitish did not have money to contest the elections. Then wife Manju Devi took her savings of two and a half years and handed it over to Nitish. At that time, these 20 thousand rupees proved to be a straw to help Nitish sink. After defeat in two elections, in 1985, Nitish won the Harnaut assembly seat from Lok Dal.
Allegations of irregularities in wife’s transfer
Nitish Kumar was accused of irregularities in getting his wife a job in Delhi. This story is from the year 1989. Then Nitish reached Delhi after winning the Lok Sabha elections. Manju also got herself deputed to Bihar Information Centre, New Delhi. This news was published in the newspapers of Bihar and Nitish was accused of breaking the rules for calling his wife to Delhi. Troubled by these allegations, Nitish had written a letter to the then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav requesting him to cancel Manju’s deputation.
