According to Lahaul Spiti administration, an order has been issued to open Leh Manali Highway NH-03 between Darcha and Sarchu for a limited period of 10 days. According to the notification issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the route from Zing Zing Bar to Sarchu has been opened for vehicular movement from both sides for the next ten days till 7 December 2025. Earlier on 17 November 2025, this route was closed till further orders due to weather and road conditions.
The decision to open the road was taken after the video conferencing chaired by DC Lahaul-Spiti on Wednesday. DC Leh, SP Lahaul-Spiti, SDM Lahaul, DSP Lahaul and officials of Border Road Organization were present in the meeting.
Leh Manali Highway has been opened for 10 days.
It has been said in the orders that there will be vehicular movement on Leh Manali Highway only from 9 am to 3 pm. The police department will take over the responsibility of traffic management keeping in mind the road and weather conditions. This order has been implemented from 27 November 2025.
The month of November was dry
It is noteworthy that due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Leh Manali Highway used to remain closed till the end of October. But this time snowfall occurred in October and there has been drought since then. The entire month of November has gone without rain and snowfall and in such a situation the Leh Manali Highway is completely dry. However, black ice is accumulating. But there is good sunshine during the day. However, rivers, streams and lakes in Lahaul Spiti have frozen. Because the mercury has dropped to minus.
