CJI Surya Kant took a big decision.

New Delhi. In the history of the Indian judiciary, holidays are often a time of peace. But this time the echo of justice will be heard even during winter vacations. Taking a big decision, the Chief Justice of the country (CJI) Surya Kant has decided to hold the court during the holidays. On December 22, a special bench of the Supreme Court will sit to hear the cases. This bench will be headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant himself, along with whom Justice Joymalya Bagchi will also be present. This step has been taken for those important and urgent matters which cannot be postponed for long. Usually courts remain closed during holidays but this initiative of CJI has made it clear that holidays can never become an obstacle in the path of justice. This news is no less than a big relief for the general public.

Special hearing during winter break
According to the daily cause-list of the Supreme Court, the court proceedings will start from 11:00 am on 22 December 2025. This will be a special ‘Vacation Bench’ which will consider important civil cases. Many important petitions have been listed in the court under ‘Fresh Admission’. These include important cases like ‘Mahika Infra LLP vs Manisha Constructions’. Urgent hearing of these cases was requested through ‘Mention Memo’.

Experienced judges have been included in the bench formed for this special hearing. Justice Joymalya Bagchi along with Chief Justice Surya Kant will examine the legal nuances.
