Jaipur: Out of the total 180 candidates selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the Civil Services Examination (CSE-21) this year, 24 are from Rajasthan alone. With this, Rajasthan has achieved the top position in terms of public servants by leaving Uttar Pradesh. Experts believe that the reason for the better performance of the state in this exam is the excellent coaching institutes and the increasing awareness about this exam among the youth. According to the statistics of the Department of Personnel and Training for the last four years, Rajasthan has given a total of 84 IAS officers and this figure has been increasing since the last three years.

In the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the year 2019, 16 such candidates were selected, who were residents of Rajasthan. In the CSE-2020 exam, 22 candidates from Rajasthan were selected and in 2021 this number increased to 24. In the CSE-2020 examination, 30 candidates from Uttar Pradesh were selected as IAS officers and Rajasthan stood second with the success of 22 candidates in this service.

Gaurav Budania, who stood 13th all-India level in the CSE-2020 examination, is currently the Assistant Collector of Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. The motivation given by him as a selection factor is the change in the pattern of UPSC exam, awareness among the SC/ST community and Rajasthan’s proximity to Delhi’s coaching institutes. Budania told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, ‘With more and more candidates getting selected in CSE, future candidates have started taking inspiration from them.’

The IAS officer of the year 2020 batch said that the SC/ST community constitutes about 25 percent of the total population in Rajasthan and there is more awareness among these communities as compared to other states, due to which they appear in more number of examinations. A coaching expert told that awareness about Civil Services Examination is increasing among the youth and coaching facilities have improved in the state, as well as it is now available in both online and offline mediums.

Coaching expert Dhir Singh said, ‘There is no doubt that there is no dearth of talent in Rajasthan. The good rank the students of Rajasthan are getting in CSE is motivating other groups to clear the exam. Along with this, the coaching facility which was limited to Delhi, is now available in the state as well. It is becoming available through both online and offline mediums. That’s why anyone can prepare sitting anywhere. Significantly, in CSE-2021, where 24 candidates from Rajasthan were selected for IAS, 19 from Uttar Pradesh, 16 from Delhi, 14 from Bihar, 13 from Maharashtra and 12 from Madhya Pradesh were selected for administrative service.
