Chilli Cultivation Tips: In cold weather, the risk of leaf curl virus increases in chilli crop, due to which the leaves become small, curled and turn yellow. If proper measures are not taken in time, the growth of plants stops and there can be a huge decline in production. In such a situation, it is necessary to immediately identify and control it scientifically, otherwise farmers may have to suffer huge losses.
Shahjahanpur : Green chilli cultivation is proving to be a profitable deal for farmers compared to traditional crops, but leaf curl virus remains a major obstacle in this profit. Chilli, which is a part of every household’s kitchen, is always in demand in the market, due to which its cultivation can make farmers rich. However, leaf curl virus has the potential to destroy the entire crop. This disease not only stops the growth of plants but can also reduce production to zero. In such a situation, it is important to recognize its symptoms in time and take effective steps for prevention.
District Horticulture Officer Dr. Puneet Kumar Pathak said that leaf curl virus is a serious challenge in chilli crop. This virus spreads from one plant to another mainly through white fly. Due to virus attack, the leaves become smaller and start turning yellow, due to which the plant is unable to photosynthesize and its growth stops. Farmers should be careful while preparing the nursery and should use nets so that the seedlings are protected from infection from the beginning.
These are effective prevention measures
Both biological and chemical methods can be adopted to control this virus. In the initial stage, farmers can eliminate whiteflies by spraying neem oil solution, if the infection is severe, then spray chemical insecticides Imidacloprid or Monocrotophos. The most important thing is that if any plant shows signs of infection, it should be immediately uprooted and destroyed. Only healthy plants and effective fly control can save the chilli crop from this virus.
