Chilli cultivation: Farmer Mubarak Ali of Seegani village of Rampur has created a distinct identity by cultivating chilli. He prepared a nursery of only 140 grams of seeds and planted the saplings in one acre of field. He says that chilli cultivation demands hard work, but as soon as the production starts, the income continues every month. About 50 quintals of chillies are harvested in the first harvesting itself and harvesting continues every month till January. Planting plants at a distance of one and a half feet provides better access to air and sunlight, which increases the quality and yield. His chillies reach Rampur, Moradabad and Delhi markets. Even after taking out the expenses, they save up to Rs 25 thousand per bigha.
