Chilli Farming: In Surguja district of Chhattisgarh, farmers can earn huge income by cultivating chilli during the cold season. Before starting the cultivation of this spice crop, farmers need to keep some important things in mind. By using the right technology, scientific preparation of plants and suggestions from experts, farmers can increase the production of chilli manifold, thereby making a good income possible.
Along with this, the Pulp Tray Seedling Unit of the Horticulture Department located at Ambikapur is providing quality plants to the farmers even in the cold season, which makes farming even easier. What special advice has the agricultural expert given to the farmers? See in this report….
Important crop of chilli spice category
Agriculture expert Ganga Ram Singh told Local 18 that chilli is an important crop of the spice category, which is widely used in making spices. Before starting its cultivation, it is necessary to make the soil friable by deep plowing of the field. He told that at least four trolleys of rotten cow dung should be applied per acre of field, which strengthens the foundation of the crop.
Distance prescribed in DAP fertilizer and plantation is very important.
Ganga Ram says that the use of DAP in chemical fertilizers has been made mandatory during farming. Two bags i.e. about one quintal of DAP should be applied per acre. If farming is being done through drip method then it is important to maintain a certain distance between the plants. About 6,500 plants are planted in one acre, due to which the growth of the crop remains balanced.
slow germination in cold
According to agricultural experts, if seeds are sown directly in cold weather, it takes 1 to 1.5 months for germination. Due to this, farmers start farming late. In such a situation, “Pulp Tray Seedling Unit” of Ambikapur is proving to be a better option for the farmers. Farmers can deposit seeds there and by the time the fields are ready, the plants are also ready. Saplings suitable for transplanting are available in about a month.
Ready plants available for just Rs 1
According to agricultural experts, when the plants are ready, farmers can contact their mobile phones and plant them in their fields at just Rs 1 per plant. It is considered necessary to use 19-19-19 fertilizer immediately after transplantation, which provides initial nutrition to the plants.
Regular use of hormones and fertilizers
For higher production, hormones used in fruit crops and fertilizers like 12-32-16 or 19-19-19 should be used from time to time. According to experts, their regular use maintains continuous rooting and flowering, due to which there is no interruption in production.
It is necessary to give fertilizer after every harvesting
By applying fertilizer after every harvest, the process of fruit formation continues without any break. Due to this, the farmer gets more production continuously throughout the season, which causes a big increase in income.
