Bhagat Ki Kothi Diesel Engine: Old and unusable diesel engines are being given a new life in the Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway Workshop located in Jodhpur. With the help of modern technology and skilled engineers, these engines are being repaired, painted and overhauled. This process is not only increasing the efficiency of the engines, but the Railways is also getting financial savings. This initiative is being considered an important step towards the modernization of Indian Railways.
Jodhpur: Under a new initiative of Indian Railways, old diesel engines are being given a new look at Bhagat Ki Kothi Loco Shed, Jodhpur, where WDP-4 class engines are being beautified for the purpose of better maintenance and attractive presentation. According to DRM Anurag Tripathi, this decision was taken after the color of the engines commissioned in the year 2009-10 became discolored, while Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Rajkumar Sharma said that till now the work of three engines has been completed and in the first phase, 40 out of total 83 diesel engines will be renovated. This work, being done with high quality paint and modern technology, will not only enhance the beauty of the engines but will also increase their service life.
In this regard, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Diesel) Rajkumar Sharma said that the work of repainting of diesel engines is going on from 23 September 2025 and till now the beautification work of three WDP-4B diesel engines 40038, 40034 and 40073 of Bhagat Ki Kothi Loco Shed has been completed, while the work on engine number 40044 is in progress. 40 out of 83 locos of Bhagat Ki Kothi Loco Shed are being beautified in the first phase. After painting, the engines are being sent back on the tracks for train operation, which will become the center of attraction for the passengers as well as the common people.
Beautification will increase the service life of engines and positive image of Railways.
He said that during the beautification, high quality paint, standard color scheme and modern technologies are being used, which will protect the surface of the engines as well as increase their service life. According to Sharma, beautification of diesel engines is not limited only to external beauty, but it is also an important means of preserving railway assets, increasing the morale of employees and creating a positive image among passengers.
Ten electric locos will also be beautified
Along with the diesel engines, the loco shed will also beautify the ten engines which Bhagat Ki Kothi Diesel Shed has received from other zones.
Message on proper maintenance of railway assets
DRM says that this initiative is being appreciated by the railway employees and the general public. This has not only improved the appearance of diesel engines but also reflected the quality maintenance and modern approach of Indian Railways.
