Siwan. If there is talk of samosas in Siwan and there is no discussion about its different taste, it cannot happen. Generally, you might have eaten samosas full of garlic and spicy spices at many places, but there is a small shop near Lakshmipur Dhala of Siwan, where samosas without garlic and less spices have become the first choice of the people. This kiosk of Hanuman Mishthan Bhandar, located under the Railway Dhalla Overbridge, is buzzing with customers every day from 1 pm to 7 pm.
The gathering takes place from noon to evening
This crowd gathers not for any inauguration or show, but for the hot samosas made by Chandan Kumar Singh. The special thing is that the largest number of boys and girls are seen studying here. Due to the presence of coaching institutes and libraries nearby, it is natural for students to flock here, but they come here not just because of the cheap prices, but because of the purity and taste.
2 pieces for 10 rupees
The samosa available at this shop is different from the common samosas. Neither garlic is used in this nor are more spices added than required. This is the reason why people eat it every day, yet there are no complaints related to stomach or health. Since two pieces of samosa are available for Rs 10, it is within the reach of every class.
customer trust
Customer Richa Singh says that she comes here almost every day. According to him, “The samosa here is light. Since there is no garlic and the spices are under control, there is no problem in eating it every day. The taste is also such that one feels like coming again and again.”
Another customer Vishal Kumar says that Chandan never compromises on quality. “That’s why there is always a queue here. The price is low, but there is no lack in taste and cleanliness.”
Even if profits are low, quality should not be compromised.
Chandan Kumar Singh, who is running this shop, has been engaged in this work since 2008. They believe that people’s trust is their biggest asset. Chandan says, “I try every day to ensure that no customer gets a chance to complain. Even if the profits are less, the quality should not be compromised.”
Story behind the tradition of the shop
There is a special story behind the name and tradition of the shop. Chandan tells that this shop was first started by a Brahmin. Hanuman temple is situated next to the shop, hence keeping special care of purity, samosa was made without garlic. After his death, carrying forward the same tradition, the shop was named Hanuman Mishthan Bhandar and even today samosas are made according to the same rules.
Chandan’s thoughts about purity do not end here. They say that even if the oil in which samosas are filtered one day is left over, it is not used again the next day. Apart from this, only good quality oil is used. This is the reason why the taste of samosas remains mild and safe for health.
No complaint has been received till date
Due to the coaching and library available around the shop, most of the customers are students. Chandan says proudly, “Students eat samosas every day and leave with praise. Till date no one has said that their health has deteriorated. This is the biggest achievement for me.” In Siwan, where fast food is often considered harmful for health, this samosa from Hanuman Mishthan Bhandar has become an example.
Low prices, pure ingredients and years of tradition have made this small kiosk the identity of the area. This is the reason why this samosa without garlic and less spices has become popular among the taste lovers of Siwan today. Everyone is a fan of its taste and purity.
