The candidates trying their luck in this phase include former Bengal Ranji captain Manoj Tiwary and state education minister and sitting MLA Parth Chatterjee from Behala West seat. Apart from this, BJP’s Union Minister Babul Supriyo is contesting against the State Sports Minister Arup Biswas in Toliganj seat.
The total voters include 58,82,514 males, 56,98,218 females and 290 members of ‘third gender’. Polling will be held from 7 am to 6:30 pm. In these seats, votes will be held at 15,940 polling stations. Polling will be held in nine seats in Howrah, 11 in South 24 Parganas, five in Alipurduar, nine in Cooch Behar and 10 in Hooghly.

Apart from this, in the Toliganj seat, BJP Union Minister Babul Supriyo is pitted against State Sports Minister Arup Biswas. In the former seat, BJP candidate Payal Sarkar will face Ratna Chatterjee who is the wife of former city Mayor and Fire Minister Shobhan Chatterjee . Former state forest minister Rajiv Banerjee has recently joined BJP and he is contesting on Domjur seat. BJP MP and actress Lockett Chatterjee is in the fray for the Chinsurah seat in Hooghly.
The maximum number of 187 companies to be deployed in Cooch Behar
In view of the sensitive situation in 44 seats of the fourth phase, the Election Commission has decided to deploy at least 789 CAPF companies. The maximum number of 187 companies will be deployed in Cooch Behar.
