Kanpur: The people of Kanpur city had to face power cuts and frequent faults for a long time. Be it summer, rain or winter, electricity problems had become common in every season. But now an initiative has been taken by KESCO (Kanpur Electricity Supply Company Limited) to provide great relief to the consumers.
For the first time, underground cabling work has been done in about 1800 km area in the entire city. This is expected to end the problem of electricity theft, web of wires on dilapidated poles and sudden faults.
Faults will reduce, problem of electricity theft will end.
Kesco MD Samuel Paul said that till now the biggest reason for electricity faults was the open wires present on the poles. Electricity thieves used to break these wires and join them in the middle, which caused faults in the lines and affected the supply of the entire area. He said that with underground cabling this problem will end forever. Now the wires will remain underground, due to which the possibility of theft will be almost negligible and consumers will be able to get continuous electricity.
Traffic will be smooth, accidents will also reduce
According to MD Samuel Paul, overhead wires were hindering traffic at many places in the city. Especially in markets and crowded areas, jams often used to occur due to wires. He said that now by laying cables underground, traffic flow will be better and accidents related to electricity will also be controlled. Due to underground cabling, people will not be able to reach them with their hands, which will reduce accidents. Also, if any fault occurs, the Kesco team will immediately reach the spot and fix it.
Target to reduce line loss to 5 percent
Kesco MD told Local18 that earlier the line loss in the city was more than eight percent due to power theft and technical problems. After the introduction of underground cabling, it has reduced somewhat and now the target is to bring it down to 5 percent. Said that earlier more than eight thousand complaints were received daily at the Kesco call centre, but now their number has also reduced noticeably. The MD also said that all this work is being done rapidly under the RDSS scheme of the Central Government and its effect will be clearly visible in the entire city in the coming months.
Consumers will continue to get better electricity
