New Delhi: An entire world was hidden under the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean, which has now been revealed by scientists. Many underwater volcanoes were discovered under sea level near the Cook Islands during an oceanic campaign. The surprising thing is that some of these volcanoes may still be active. These volcanoes are about 4700 km south of Hawaii. Scientists believe that if they become active, then a unique ecosystem can be formed in the depths of the sea. However, so far obvious volcanic activity has been signed. The experts of the Cabed Minerals Authority (SBMA) say that the area was not closely investigated so far. When there is a complete analysis of the new map, in the future scientists can easily verify these areas.
How to become a volcano?
Cook Islands is a group of 15 islands, located between French Polynesia and American Samoa. The island was made millions of years ago when the Pacific plate passed a magma access point in the mental earth of the earth. Just as Hawaii islands formed.
The access point is a place where hot magma rises above the mental and reaches the bark and begins volcanic activities. When the magma explodes in water again and again, the volcano mountains are formed gradually under the sea. If this process continues for a long time, then these volcanic water can also get out of the water surface and create a new island.
Hidden volcano in the cook islands
Most volcanoes of the Cook Islands are several million years old. But a mixture of new and old volcanic stones has been found on the rocks of the Rareotonga and Itutaki Islands. This means that these islands have been made recently. Scientists discovered that the youngest volcanic stone in Rareonga is only 1.2 million years old.
6.7 Lakh year signal found in 2024
Recently, scientists studied hidden volcanic rocks at sea level of the Cook Islands. This area is 60 km to the southeast of Rareonga and this volcano is called “Tama”. The age of these rocks left only 670,000 years, which are the youngest volcanic rocks on the Cook Islands.
Based on this discovery, scientists estimated that there may be many other submarine volcanoes from weird to the southeast of Tama.
Artex 2025 mission – New search in the depths of Ocean
The Artex 2025 campaign was launched to detect these mysterious volcanoes. Its purpose was to make a map of the sea level in detail around weirdoga. During this campaign, scientists discovered a high -kilometer volcanic “pepe” at sea level. However, scientists have not yet confirmed completely whether these volcanoes are active or not. For this, they have to go directly and take rock samples.
The team of scientists now wants to return to this area. Its objective is to collect samples of volcanic rocks and your exact age must be found. In addition to this, this discovery will also reveal whether a unique life is flourishing in the sea due to the heat of these volcanoes.
