Foxconn: Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, a Taiwanese electronics company that manufactures iPhones on contract for Apple, also known as Foxconn, has employed people on a large scale.
It is being told that the company has given jobs to about 30,000 employees in just eight to nine months in its new iPhone assembly facility in Devanahalli near Bengaluru. Economics Times has given this information in its report quoting people associated with this matter. This is the biggest hiring ever in a factory in a few months.
Most of the female employees in the factory
Another special thing about this factory spread over 300 acres of land is that it is run by women. About 80 percent of the people working here are women. Most of these employees are also in the age group of 19-24 years and this is their first job. This is Foxconn’s largest factory outside China, where trial production first started in April-May this year. Most of these were iPhone 16 models, which were being assembled. Now the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max is also being manufactured here. Most of the products being manufactured are being sent abroad.
Expectation of jobs for 50000 people
This is part of iPhone supplier Foxconn’s ‘Project Elephant’, in which large-scale investment has been made. Under this, this unit has the capacity to provide employment to up to 50,000 people. There are six large dormitories on the campus, many of which are already operational for female employees, while work is underway to complete other facilities.
These facilities are available with salary
There is a hope to expand this unit further and hire more and more women employees. With this, women from many neighboring states will also get jobs. According to a report in The Economic Times, the project is being envisioned as a self-contained township, which will have housing, healthcare, schooling and entertainment facilities within the factory premises. According to the report, the people working here get the facility of free accommodation and subsidized food. Additionally, women get a salary of around Rs 18,000.
