Cement Price Drop: If you are also dreaming of building your own house, then you may hear good news soon. It is estimated that cement prices may be reduced soon because Railways has reduced its freight fares. The cement industry will benefit from this because they will save money due to reduced freight cost and customers can also benefit from it.
Railways has also talked about making a new policy regarding transportation of cement. There is also talk of building a dedicated terminal for bulk transportation of cement. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had recently talked about reducing the fare for cement transportation. The biggest improvement in this direction has been made by Railways in the distance and weight slabs, which have now been completely abolished. With this, calculation of railway freight fare has now become easier. Earlier it was quite complicated and expensive. It is estimated that cement prices may reduce by Rs 30 to Rs 50 with this step.
What is the new rule of freight transportation?
In the new rules made by the Railways regarding transportation of cement, it is being said that arrangements should be made to transport the cement by keeping it in tanks. Its fare is being charged at 90 paise per ton per kilometer. This calculation is done through gross tonne kilometres. First this calculation is done on the basis of weight and distance slab. The Railway Minister has described the new system as a game changer. He says that this step will reduce the prices of cement and the middle class will benefit the most. It will be easy and cheap for them to build houses.
How will the design of the container be?
The containers made for transporting cement will be made pollution free. For this, 20 feet containers with special design will be made, in which cement will be transported. The capacity of each container will be about 26 tonnes, whose gross weight can be 31 tonnes. The work of loading and unloading cement in this container will be completed in just 25 to 30 minutes. The length of this container will be 20 feet, width will be 8 feet and height will be 8.5 percent, so that it can be easily transported by rail and road. Its purpose is to make transportation of cement easier without packaging. The Railway Minister said that pollution free logistics can be ensured with this container.
Cement terminals will be built near cities
Railways has also talked about making a new policy to make the transportation of cement cheaper and easier to transport. Under this, preparations are being made to build bulk cement terminals near the cities. Its purpose is to make the movement of the container easier. These terminals will be directly connected to the railways. Automatic loading-unloading systems will be installed at the terminal. Private companies or cement companies will be able to build and operate these terminals.
Cement will come without sack
Under the new policy of cement, now instead of filling it in sacks, it will be transported directly in containers. For this, Railways is also making a special wagon. This step will not only reduce costs, but pollution will also be controlled to a great extent. At present, transportation of cement by road is a very costly task. Besides, it also causes more pollution, but building a terminal and transporting it in new containers will provide relief on both fronts.
Second largest freight track in India
The Railway Minister said that India has now become the second largest freight rail network in the world, leaving America behind. By creating a dedicated freight corridor, the speed of goods trains has also increased and the movement of goods has also become easier. Railways has now accelerated the work of laying tracks even more. Whereas in 2014-15, 4 kilometers of track was laid every day, now it has reached 14 kilometers. The new system of cement transportation will not only reduce costs and pollution, but incidents of cement spoilage can also be curbed.
