He said, ‘Apprenticeship can be the best model for skillful workers of India. It helps students or youth to become fully executive of the trainee industry. These would be people who would have real experience working at the workplace. This will not only improve the ability to hire youth, but will also reduce unemployment, but from the employer’s perspective, it will improve the skills of the youth, increase their productivity and they will be professionals.
Important budget in difficult circumstances
Ratna Mehta, Vice President, Wadhwani Catalyst at the Wadhwani Foundation, says, “This is the budget of hope and the stick of positivity. It was an important budget under extremely difficult circumstances. There was a lot of hope from the budget and chief among them is that it will bring the economy back to normalcy. The finance minister was expected to work hard to manage the deficit and repair the economy. He seems to have succeeded and increased expenses to increase employment. In this way consumption is expected to increase. This is a big step which was also the need of the hour. Healthcare also needed government support and here they have increased the allocation substantially. The focus on tax exemption and digitization will benefit start ups especially healthcare, logistics, education, who will get increased opportunities. The corporate sector was spared the increase in cess and tax. With this, the task of bringing the economy back on track will be done in a smooth manner. In short, the budget seems to work right. In such a situation, the evil will be in its description or expansion and implementation. Also read: – Budget 2021: Finance Ministry has the highest amount in the budget, know who got how much
Sameer Sathe, executive vice president of Wadhwani Advantage at the Wadhwani Foundation, says, “The current budget emphasizes globalization of the supply chain within the manufacturing sector and investment in infrastructure is expected to grow.” This is a welcome move for both SMEs, albeit indirectly and with a slight weakness as SMEs will see the benefit of this investment in the later part of 2021 or in 2022. I am happy and optimistic about the change in the healthcare sector. This is an important area for India, Foundation and Advantage programs. The main thing is in implementing it.
Furthermore, the action of expanding the limits of small scale industry is symbolic and not fundamentally wrong. This will increase the number of beneficiary companies of government benefits and rebates. The government has given them the perspective of protecting them. This does not change the basic competitiveness of small companies, provided they develop the ability to manage so that they can take advantage of the discounts and protections that are given and work for that purpose. It is like giving more playing field without increasing the winning skills of the players. I hoped for more concrete and capacity-making budget changes for them.
