This year budget documents will not be printed. MPs will be given digital copy only. This will be the first time since independence, when budget documents will not be printed.

The English newspaper Business Standard has given information about this in one of its reports. The report said that this decision has been taken during the printing process to avoid Kovid-19 infection. On 26 November 2947, the budget documents for the Union Budget were printed for the first time. Since then, these documents are printed for the budget every year.
Every year the Ministry of Finance conducts ‘Halwa Ceremony’. Halwa is also distributed to employees working in printing. Only after this documents related to the budget are printed. This work is done in the basement of North Block.

The entire printing process takes about 2 weeks. In 2019 and 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took these documents to Parliament in the form of a traditional ledger.
This year Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget for the financial year 2021-22 on February 1.
