Disadvantages of Brinjal: Brinjal has always been a part of our kitchen. Everyone must know something about its benefits. Despite being rich in taste and nutrition, its consumption is not beneficial for everyone. In some situations, brinjal can cause a lot of problems, so it is very important to understand its side effects before eating it.
According to Ayurveda, the nature of brinjal is Taseer. It can increase gas in the stomach and put pressure on digestion. Brinjal can prove harmful for people who suffer from acidity, gas, flatulence or indigestion. Such people should consume it in limited quantity.
Consuming brinjal during pregnancy can cause many problems for women. Some elements found in it can stimulate the uterus, which increases the risk of miscarriage or other complications. It is better to avoid eating brinjal especially in the initial months of pregnancy.
If someone has joint pain, swelling or arthritis, then brinjal is not considered good for them. It contains an element called solanine, which can provoke swelling and pain in the body. Doctors also advise such patients to maintain distance from brinjal.

Dr. Vandana Tiwari, a five-year experienced medical officer of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Nagar Ballia, tells Local 18 that oxalates are found in brinjal, which can increase the chances of kidney stone formation. People who already suffer from kidney stones or have a history of such disease, should eat brinjal very little or not at all.
Some people also complain of allergy to brinjal. After eating brinjal, symptoms like itching, red rashes, swelling or difficulty in breathing may appear on the skin. It is advisable for sensitive people and small children to consume it with special caution.
Fiber is found in brinjal and it also helps in blood sugar control, but if diabetic patients eat it in excess quantity, there may be fluctuations in the sugar level. Therefore, diabetes patients should eat brinjal in limited quantities only.
Brinjal is a useful vegetable due to its nutrition and taste, but in some situations it can prove to be harmful. Pregnant women, arthritis and stone patients, people with allergies and digestive problems should consume it with caution. Brinjal is safe and beneficial when cooked properly and eaten in balanced quantities, but consuming it in excess can cause problems.
