Lula sacks Brazil’s army chief after right-wing rebellion

Brasilia: Riots in Brazil’s capital Brasília on January 8 this year followed claims that the army chief had tried to protect right-wing rioters from arrest. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been sacked. According to The Guardian’s report, Gen Júlio Cesar de Arruda was removed from his post on Saturday. Julio played his role by the end of December.
Lula’s supporters say Julio, aligned politically with Bolsonaro, allegedly blocked police from detaining suspected rioters who had taken refuge in a camp outside Brasilia’s army headquarters on the night of the attack. Let us tell you that after the presidential election on October 30, former President Bolsonaro refused to accept his defeat, after which on January 8, supporters of former President Bolsonaro in Brazil ransacked the Presidential Palace, Congress, Supreme Court and Slogans were raised against the current President Lula da Silva. More than 400 people have been arrested in this entire rebellion. To control the situation, the police had to release tear gas shells, but even then the protesters overpowered the officers. Lula’s administration called this riot an attempted coup.
