Japan company got contract
A contract has been awarded to Japan’s Corporation of Japan to implement facial recognition technology at airports. This company is a specialist in facial recognition technology and has worked in implementing it worldwide.
Paperless boarding will start at 4 airports– Technology will start at Varanasi, Vijayawada, Pune and Kolkata airports
– Varanasi Airport will be the first airport to use Facial Recognition
– Japan company NEC Corporation gets contract
– Plan to implement the technology in the next three months
Preparations are being done at these airports as well
Although four airports have been selected for the introduction of paperless boarding, preparations are being made to implement it at many more airports. These include many major airports. Work is already underway on the DIGI YATRA scheme at Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad airports. It was trialled for three months at Delhi Airport last year. This experiment has also been done at Hyderabad Airport. However, it may take longer to implement it at these airports. In the same way, there are many more.
With the introduction of paperless boarding, the entry and boarding process at the airport will take less time and passengers will be able to avoid long lines. You will be identified by scanning your face. No paper or boarding pass will be required from the time of admission at the airport to boarding. This technology can provide contactless and instant boarding, bag drop, security check and lounge access.
What is paperless boarding?
Paperless boarding is part of the DIGI YATRA scheme of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. To take advantage of this, you have to put your facial recognition in the database once with Aadhaar, passport or any other identity card. Passengers will have to generate a DY ID number from the website of the Ministry of Aviation. Physical verification will be done during the first use of this DY ID at the airport. After this, the passengers will have to give this number while booking the plane ticket. When you arrive at the airport, you will get an entry from your facial recognition in the database. If you do not want to avail this facility, then the boarding facility will remain intact by showing paper tickets and ID cards at the airport. This paperless and touchless airport boarding system identifies a passenger with the right of arrival, security check and departure after departure according to the NEC.
