Jamshedpur News: Thousands of foreign birds have reached here after flying about 4,582 km long from the snow covered areas of Siberia. These guest birds, who have come to escape the cold, are adding to the beauty of Chandil Dam by making it their temporary home.
These days, Chandil Dam is no less than a magical destination for nature lovers and tourists. With the onset of winter, the huge reservoir spread under the Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project seems to be filled with life. These days, the calm waves of Chandil Dam, spread over an area of about 1,96,300 hectares, are a sight to behold for migratory birds and tourists.

Chandil Dam becomes hotspot for nature lovers
Light morning sunlight, fog spread over the water and shadows of green hills spread all around – this scene looks no less than a movie scene. When exotic birds of red, white and black colors land on the calm water body, it seems as if nature itself is making its painting. This is the reason why youth and photography enthusiasts stay there for hours with cameras. Boating has become the biggest attraction of Chandil Dam. Seeing these migratory birds flying very close from the boat becomes a memorable experience for the tourists. When the entire flock flies together and touches the surface of the water, that moment remains in everyone’s heart.
Migratory birds reach Chandil Dam
Giving information, Naukabihar Committee Chairman Narayan Gop said that every year a large number of migratory birds reach Chandil Dam during the winter season. According to him, at present the number of tourists coming from India and abroad is also continuously increasing. Due to which this area is rapidly emerging on the tourism map. Now the identity of Chandil Dam is not limited to local tourism only. Tourists from countries like Russia, South Korea, Italy, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also reaching here. This place is fast becoming an international attraction for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Jharkhand’s tourism also gets a new boost
However, amidst the increasing popularity, lack of facilities is a big challenge. Due to lack of basic arrangements like night rest, clean food, toilet, electricity and security, tourists have to return in the evening. Local people hope that if the government and administration take serious initiatives, Chandil Dam will not only become a safe home for migratory birds. Rather, it will also give a new flight to Jharkhand’s tourism.
