Bilaspur News: As soon as the Veterinary College gets recognition, first year classes will be started in Bilaspur. This time the college has again sent an application to the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) for recognition of 80 seats.
Bilaspur. It has been 8 years since the Veterinary College established in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh was established but till now it has not received the final recognition from the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). In the year 2017, the college got temporary recognition and classes continued for one academic session but due to shortage of staff, incomplete laboratories and disorganized campus, the council canceled the recognition within a year. Now with a new building, staff and arrangements, the college is once again applying for recognition and it is expected that studies will be able to start here again from the next academic session.
Crores of rupees spent after cancellation of recognition
Even after the cancellation of recognition, the appointment of staff continued here. At present about 6 teachers and four other employees are appointed in this college. About Rs 9.50 crore was spent on this as salary in 8 years. Expensive equipment like five refrigerators, 20 ACs and lab machines started getting damaged due to lack of maintenance and the college building also fell into a dilapidated state.

Veterinary College in-charge Amit Toppo told Local 18 that the college building is now completely ready and some final work like painting and arrangements are going on. The availability of faculty is adequate and recognition is expected by the new session. As soon as recognition is granted, first year classes will be started in Bilaspur. He said that this time the college has again sent an application to VCI for recognition of 80 seats.
Hope among local students and parents
Bilaspur resident Akash Soni told Local 18 that this college was closed for 8 years but now looking at the preparations, it seems that studies will start here in the coming session. Children from nearby districts will no longer need to go far. However, now the college has been prepared as per the new standards and the final inspection is awaited. If recognition is received on time, the admission process can start from the academic session 2026-27.
