Bhojpur: After the formation of the new NDA government in Bihar, bulldozer action has started in Bihar on the lines of UP. A glimpse of this was also seen today in Ara city of Bhojpur district, where the Municipal Corporation has intensified the removal of encroachments campaign to rid the city of the old problem of traffic jam. From Syndicate Road to Sabzi Gola Road, the Municipal Corporation team took charge with bulldozers and demolished the illegal construction on the road. The corporation has taken action against many shopkeepers making platforms on the main road, taking out balconies beyond their shops and putting up huge hoardings.
At the same time, mixed reactions were seen among the local people regarding this action. Many people called it a commendable step and said that it will provide relief from the traffic jam problem of the city. Some people expressed their displeasure and said why is the action limited to only small shopkeepers? When will action be taken against encroachment by big shopping malls, hotels, resorts, private hospitals and educational institutions? Whereas some youth also say that before removing encroachment, the government should pay more attention to education, health and employment.
City Manager Ratnesh Kumar, who is leading the campaign, said that the encroachment free campaign is run by the Municipal Corporation from time to time in the entire city, due to which the problem of road jam has improved to a great extent. Today’s action has been taken with this purpose in mind. No attempt should be made to view this encroachment-free campaign from any political angle.
During the encroachment campaign, the Municipal Corporation and the administrative team removed illegal encroachments spread on the roadside and confiscated the items kept outside the roadside shopkeepers and shops. Complaints were already being received at many places about encroachment by shops and narrowing of the road, due to which this action was taken. Also, the District Magistrate has directed to identify those who ignore the rules and take further strict action against them. The District Magistrate has asked the Urban Management Unit to continue taking effective action in public interest. Also, the follow-up team has been instructed to remain continuously active and prevent the removed encroachment from being re-established.
