Patna: Bihar School Examination Committee, i.e. Bihar Board, which was once in the news for topper scam and examination malpractices, has now become an example in the country for its better functioning and transparency. Bihar Board has once again created history and achieved three international ISO certifications simultaneously. With this achievement, Bihar Board has become the first examination board in the country to get ISO certification in three different areas simultaneously.
Bihar Board has received the certification of ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for Information Security Management System and ISO 15489-1:2016 for Records Management System. The special thing is that the Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has received only two of these certificates so far, whereas the Bihar Board has met all three standards.
Examination system changed due to technology
According to Bihar Board Chairman Anand Kishore, in the last few years, major improvements have been made in the exam system with the use of IT, software and modern technology. The entire process from matriculation and intermediate examinations to recognition of schools has been made transparent and trustworthy. This is the reason why the board has achieved this big achievement.
He said that except CBSE, no other state board in the country has achieved this success. Board officials from other states come to Bihar and understand the examination system here and try to implement it here.
Tradition of giving results first
Bihar Board has been releasing Matriculation and Inter results first in the country continuously for the last seven years i.e. 2019. Behind this is the special attention given to records management, information security and quality. All matriculation and intermediate examination records from the year 1983 to 2025 have been digitalized. This will make the process of online verification easier.
Speeding up work through e-office and digital systems
Computerization and e-office system has been implemented in the board. Files are now moving digitally through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. With the use of pre-exam and post-exam software, online registration, e-admit card, fee submission and result release has become easier and faster than ever.
State-of-the-art data centers and online facilities
Bihar Board has established a state-of-the-art data center with 200 terabyte capacity, in which all the records are being kept safe. Apart from this, applications of more than 96 lakh students have been successfully taken through Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS) from the year 2018 to 2025. Due to all these efforts, Bihar Board has today become a model board for the country.
