8th Pay Commission: Union Minister of State for Finance told in Parliament that the benefit of the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission will also be given to all 69 lakh pensioners. He clarified that the date for its implementation has not been decided yet and the government will decide on it.
New Delhi. Now only 17 months are left for the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission. Earlier on Monday, the Central Government once again put an end to the ongoing speculations regarding the terms and conditions of the Commission and gave clear information. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has given clear information in the Parliament regarding the 8th Pay Commission. He also gave answers regarding the arrangement of funds to implement the recommendations of the Commission.
During the discussion in Parliament, the Minister of State for Finance said that at present the number of central employees is around 50.14 lakh, while there are also around 69 lakh pensioners. After the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, all of them will be given benefits. In the written reply, the Union Minister has also answered questions like the term of reference of the 8th Pay Commission and the date of its implementation. He was asked what is the plan regarding fund allocation for the 8th Pay Commission in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. Will the government redress the grievances of pensioners and employees?
When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?
Ever since the 8th Pay Commission was announced, the biggest question of all the employees and pensioners was when will it be implemented. The Union Minister has answered this question in Parliament. He said that the date of implementation of the commission’s recommendations will be announced later. At present, the Commission will have to present its recommendations within 18 months of its formation. The 7th Pay Commission will end on December 31, 2025, but the date of implementation of the 8th has not been revealed yet.
What has happened since the formation of the commission?
The Union Minister said that the funds required to implement the recommendations of the Commission will be decided with time. For this, pre-determined procedure will also be followed. Since the formation of the 8th Pay Commission 41 days ago, many steps have been taken. The Central Government has approved its term of reference, the gazette notification of which has also been issued on November 3, 2025.
On what basis will the commission decide the salary?
The Pay Commission will prepare its recommendations keeping in mind the structure of basic pay, pension, allowances and other facilities. Its objective is to provide proper payment to employees and pensioners. The Commission also faces the challenge of making changes in the fitment factor, on the basis of which the salaries of the employees will also change. The government has taken several steps since the formation of the commission, which will directly impact the salaries and pensions of the employees.
