RJD MLA Chandrashekhar Political controversy: In Madhepura, the drain construction company accused Prof. Chandrashekhar of extortion of Rs. 1 crore, FIR registered. The Grand Alliance staged a protest against the irregularities. Police investigation is ongoing.
Madhepura Political turmoil has intensified in Madhepura district of Bihar. The company involved in the drain construction work of the Municipal Council has lodged an FIR in the Sadar police station accusing the local RJD MLA Prof. Chandrashekhar of demanding extortion of Rs 1 crore. The company had given the application on December 9 itself, which was formally registered today.

Prof. Chandrashekhar remained in the headlines in the last months. In November 2025, a video of a laborer slapping and abusing Sonu Nigam during the inspection of drain construction went viral, after which the laborer lodged an FIR in the Sadar police station. The MLA clarified that he was investigating the irregularities, but the police investigation is ongoing. Now the extortion allegation has raised a new question on his image.
Political background of Prof. Chandrashekhar
Prof. Chandrashekhar is a prominent leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from Madhepura assembly seat. He was recently elected MLA for the fourth time in the 2025 assembly elections, where he defeated JDU’s Kavita Saha by 7809 votes. Earlier in 2010, 2015 and 2020 also he registered consecutive victories. Madhepura was kept as RJD’s stronghold. He has been a former education minister. He has a strong hold on the Yadav vote bank.
