Bank New Rule: There may soon be a change in the rules for the employees working in banks. The Finance Minister has asked the banks to recruit such employees in every branch who know the local language.
New Delhi. There is going to be a big change in the rules for those working in government banks soon. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also given clear instructions to banks in this regard. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday appealed to public sector banks that it is necessary for the employees working in their branches to have knowledge of the local language. He has also told the banks that due to lack of information related to credit score of customers, their dependence on credit bureaus has increased, due to which customers face difficulty in getting loans.
In fact, there have been many cases of bank officials facing the anger of political parties due to not speaking the local language. On this, the Union Minister has talked about changes in recruitment and human resource policies, so that people speaking the local language are recruited and they get better evaluation. He said that banks should deploy employees in every branch in such a way that some of them can understand their customers and speak the local language. At least branch level employees must speak the local language.
Preference will be given to those who speak local language.
In a program of SBI, the Finance Minister said that while evaluating the performance of the employees, I would recommend to make the local language also the basis, so that such employees can get more preference. She said that she cannot defend the fact that people who know different languages should not be posted at other places, but every bank branch must have some employees who know the local language.
Local customers are most important for the bank
The Finance Minister reminded that a local customer is very important to run the business of the bank and customer engagement is also important from the development point of view of the banks. Personal involvement with technical inputs has been the specialty of this sector. Due to its lack, the bank branch is not able to understand the local customer and the business is also affected. Earlier bank officials knew who was credit worthy and who was trustworthy. Now it is evaluated only on the basis of technology, which is not right.
Difficulty in getting loan
Sitharaman said that today banks depend on external credit companies to evaluate people, who take time to update their records, which leads to problems in getting loans. He heard about two such cases where people were talking about taking loans from moneylenders instead of formal finance. Banks cannot put the onus on the borrower to spend a lifetime proving and providing documents. If these small things are fixed, you will become the most admired institution in the country.
