Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh government is running many schemes with the aim of making farmers financially strong and self-reliant. One of these schemes is Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, under which solar pumps are provided to farmers on subsidy. This year, 1002 solar pumps have been allotted under this scheme in Bareilly district. The Agriculture Department has sought online applications from farmers till December 15.
Pump allocation will be done through e-lottery
In a phone conversation with Local 18, Deputy Director Agriculture Amarpal Singh said that this scheme is very beneficial for the farmers of Bareilly. Farmers who have registered online will be allotted solar pumps through e-lottery in a completely transparent process. Application can be made only on the official website of the Agriculture Department.
Application Process and Token Money
At the time of registration under the scheme, farmers will have to deposit only Rs 5,000 token money. After this you will receive a booking confirmation message on your mobile. After deducting the grant amount, farmers will be able to deposit the remaining amount online from their account. If the farmer does not have the amount immediately available, he can also take a loan from the bank. On this, you will get the benefit of 6% interest rebate under AIF scheme.
Transparent process and verification
The Deputy Director said that solar pump allocation will be done with complete transparency. According to the prescribed rules, solar pumps will be provided to the farmers only after the boring of their fields and verification of the land is completed. This will ensure that solar pumps reach the right farmers and the scheme is not misused.
Golden opportunity for farmers
There will be a huge reduction in the irrigation cost of farmers by getting solar pumps. The expenditure on electricity bill and diesel will be completely eliminated. These pumps running on solar energy will be helpful in irrigating the fields throughout the year without any interruption.
Farmers’ reaction
Farmer Manish Rajput of Milkamjra village praised this scheme of the government and said that getting solar pumps will provide a lot of relief to the farmers. Now there will be no worry about power cuts or rising diesel prices. He said that he is also preparing to apply under this scheme and install a solar pump in his farm.
