Jamshedpur. Indian Railways has temporarily diverted several long distance trains in December 2025 due to critical maintenance work and traffic blocks. Between December 12 and December 20, passengers will have to face changes on many major routes. Railways has released a detailed list for this, which includes train numbers, running dates, existing routes and new diverted routes. Here complete details of every train are given in detail so that passengers do not face any kind of problem during the journey.
Rourkela to Gondia
18117 Rourkela–Gondia (ROU–GNPR) Express running from Rourkela to Gondia will be run on the changed route from 12 December to 19 December 2025. This train will now reach its destination via Rourkela–Jharsuguda–Titlagarh–Summaral–Vizag (VZM). In contrast, 18118 Gondia–Rourkela (GNPR–ROU) coming from Gondia to Rourkela will be diverted to Rourkela via Vizag–Summaral–Titlagarh–Jharsuguda from December 12 to December 20.
Shalimar–Sambalpur
Similarly, 20831 Shalimar–Sambalpur (SHM–SBP) will now be sent on the diverted route of Kharagpur–Tata–Jharsuguda instead of its scheduled route Kharagpur–Bankura–Kisanganj–Sonua–Rourkela–Jharsuguda–Sambalpur on 15, 17 and 19 December. Whereas its reverse train 20832 Sambalpur–Shalimar (SBP–SHM) will reach Shalimar via Sambalpur–Jharsuguda–Tata–Kharagpur on 14, 16 and 18 December.
In this sequence, 22803 Shalimar-Sambalpur has been diverted via Tata-Jharsuguda on 13th December. Whereas 22804 Sambalpur-Shalimar (SBP-SHM) has been given Jharsuguda-Tata-Kharagpur route on 12th and 19th December, whereas earlier it used to run via Kisanganj-Sonua-Kelendra.
Popular train 02831 Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar (DHN–BBS) from Dhanbad to Bhubaneswar will be operated from 12 to 19 December on the new route Rourkela–Kelendra–Jharsuguda–Nayagarh–Jharpara–Cuttack–Bhubaneswar. Similarly, 02832 Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad (BBS–DHN) will be sent to Dhanbad via Cuttack–Nayagarh–Jharsuguda–Rourkela from December 11 to December 19.
22805 (BBS-ANVT), running between Bhubaneswar and Anand Vihar Terminal, will be sent on 13th December via Bhubaneswar-Bargarh-Navrangpur-Rourkela-Tata-Hijli. On the return journey, 22806 Anand Vihar – Bhubaneswar (ANVT – BBS) will be run via Tata – Hijli – Bargarh – Navrangpur – Bhubaneswar on 15th December.
Railways has requested all passengers to check their train number and route before travelling. These changes are effective only for these specified dates. These days, block and construction work is going on on the respective routes, hence trains are being operated through alternative routes.
Keeping in mind the safety and convenience of passengers, the purpose of these changes is to modernize the track and improve rail operations.
