Varanasi: A big decision of the district court has come in the Gyanvapi case of Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. The court has rejected a petition from the Hindu side. The Hindu side had filed a petition to change the cloth of the seal installed outside the bathing room of Gyanvapi Mosque, which has been rejected. The District Judge’s court, while hearing the petition, said that the clothes in the bathroom will not be changed. The Hindu side had filed a petition for replacement of the clothes. The Wajukhana is sealed after the order of the Supreme Court. The Hindu side had expressed apprehension of tampering with the Vujukhana.
Hindu side’s advocate gave information
Hindu side’s advocate Madan Mohan Yadav said that District Judge Sanjeev Shukla rejected the application related to changing the cloth on the lock of the sealed bathroom located inside the Gyanvapi complex. According to Yadav, the District Judge said that since the matter is currently sub-judice in the Supreme Court, the District Court does not have the jurisdiction to pass any order on this matter. Hearing is going on in the Supreme Court on the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.
The bathroom of Gyanvapi Mosque was sealed on 16-17 May.
Yadav said that in December last year, the Supreme Court had directed the subordinate and lower courts that as long as the matter is pending before the apex court, no new case should be accepted nor should any order be passed which could affect the proceedings of the Supreme Court. Following the survey on court orders, the Vazukhana area of Gyanvapi Masjid was sealed on May 16-17, 2022.
On August 8, a petition was given to change the clothes.
The sealing cloth has been completely torn. To avoid any incident due to this, the district administration had applied for permission to change the cloth on August 8 this year to seal it by applying a new cloth again. There has been a long-running legal dispute between Hindu and Muslim parties over the Gyanvapi complex adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple over claims of the existence of a temple structure beneath the mosque.
