With winter, a huge crowd of people is gathering at the shop of ‘Bhojpuria Litti-Chokha’ located in Urjanagar, Godda. Famous for pure ghee and traditional taste, about 250 customers visit this shop every day. Here two pieces of litti are available for ₹25 to ₹30. People are coming from far away places to enjoy it.
As soon as the cold season starts, the craze for Litti-Chokha increases rapidly in Godda. The pleasure of eating hot Litti and Chokha amidst the cool breeze in the morning and evening is something else. In such a situation, Bhojpuria Litti-Chokha shop located in Mahagama Urjanagar of Godda district remains the first choice of the people these days. The taste of Litti here is so special that people from different areas of the district as well as surrounding areas come especially to eat Litti-Chokha.
According to the local people, the biggest feature of this shop is its traditional and pure taste. Around 250 customers enjoy Litti-Chokha here every day for 5 to 6 hours of shopping. At the shop, two pieces of litti with pure ghee are given for Rs 30 and two pieces of litti without ghee are given for Rs 25. Due to cheap prices and excellent taste, there is always a crowd of customers here.
Litti shop operator Nilesh Kumar Singh told Local 18 that people from a radius of about 30 kilometers including Godda, Peerpainti come to his shop to eat Litti-Chokha. He told that pure gram sattu is used for filling inside Litti, in which a special mixture is prepared by adding lemon, celery, mangrela, garlic, mustard oil, black salt and rock salt. Chokha is made in the traditional way by adding potatoes, tomatoes, brinjal, garlic and green chillies.

Along with this, to make Litti-Chokha more delicious, mustard chutney, coriander leaves chutney, finely chopped onion and green coriander are served in the form of salad. The special thing is that home-made fried green chillies are also given on top, which doubles the taste of this dish. Due to the pure ingredients and prepared in desi style, people are liking this Litti-Chokha very much.
Upendra Kumar, who came to eat Litti-Chokha, told that he has been coming here continuously for the last three days to eat Litti-Chokha. According to him, before this he has also eaten Litti-Chokha in Deoghar and Bhagalpur, but the taste here is different and very special. Litti, spicy chutney and delicious chokha served with pure cow ghee make it more delicious. He said that he eats four pieces of litti daily and it does not have any negative effect on his health.
