The court has said that the West Bengal government should immediately implement this scheme (One Nation One Ration Card) without any hesitation. The court clearly said – you cannot count one problem after another, this is a case of migrant laborers.
New Delhi. On Friday, the Supreme Court has given strict instructions to the West Bengal government regarding the inability to implement the One Nation One Ration Card scheme. The court has said that the West Bengal government should implement this scheme immediately without any excuse. The court clearly said – you cannot count one problem after another, this is a case of migrant laborers.
Today, the Supreme Court has reserved its decision in the matter of giving cheap or free food grains to the migrant laborers. In the last day of hearing, the Supreme Court told the West Bengal government that it would have to implement the central government’s ‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ scheme. The West Bengal government’s counsel said that due to the problems with the Aadhar card, this scheme has not been implemented.
‘When all the states have done this, what is the problem with West Bengal’
On this, Justice MR Shah said that no such excuse will work. When all the states have done this, what is the problem with West Bengal. This plan should be implemented in any case. In view of this stand of the court, the counsel for the Government of West Bengal agreed in this regard.During the hearing, the Supreme Court also lashed out at the central government.
Under the One Nation-One Ration Card scheme, a migrant laborer will get ration in another state, irrespective of the state’s ration card. During the hearing, the Supreme Court also lashed out at the central government. Actually, the central government has to make a website in which all the migrant laborers have to be registered. On the basis of that, those laborers will be given government facility.
Expressed displeasure over not being able to create a website
This website is being built since November last year but is not ready yet. During the hearing today, the Solicitor General sought more time to complete this work. On this, Justice MR Shah said that it cannot be left only to the officers. This is not such a big job. No survey is to be done. There is only one mechanism to be created where the data can be stored. But the government officials did nothing. Just because the officials do not have time, this work cannot be put off forever.
Today the hearing in this case has been completed. The court will now give its verdict as to what will be the role of the central and state governments to help the migrant laborers.
