Ghee Health Benefits: Desi ghee is not just a thing that enhances the taste of food, but is also considered a real superfood of India for centuries. Here, Ghee is considered a symbol of strength, vigor and long life. Today science also believes that desi cow’s ghee is one of the most nutritious foods in the world. The CLA, butyrate, Omega-3, Vitamin A, D, E, K2 and many types of fatty acids present in it make it a complete medicine. In Ayurveda it has been called Yogavahi which also increases the efficacy of other medicines.
The most special thing about ghee is that it strengthens digestion. The butyric acid present in it heals the intestines, calms irritable bowel syndrome and acidity and increases Agni. Ghee is no less than nectar for the brain. It nourishes the brain, improves memory and helps in reducing stress. Ghee is also considered to have good effects in problems related to hormone balance, PCOD, thyroid and period in women.
Ghee is also very beneficial for bones and joints, because the Vitamin K2 present in it deposits calcium in the bones at the right place. Lubrication in joints increases and pain reduces. Ghee warms the body in winter, protects from viral infections and strengthens the immunity.
In Ayurveda, Ghee has been described as Rasayana, Medhya (tonic for the brain) and age enhancer. It balances all three doshas – Vata-Pitta-Kapha and nourishes every metal of the body. In Charak Samhita, Ghee has been described as the best essential oil to be consumed in every season.
People still use many home uses of ghee, like ghee with ginger for cold and cough, turmeric-ghee paste for skin, lukewarm milk with ghee at night for constipation, massage with ghee for hair fall and consumption of ghee with garlic for heart health. Children are given ghee with a small amount of honey to improve digestion and immunity. Triphala ghee for dry eyes, consumption of ghee for acidity and 1-2 drops of ghee as nasya are also part of the traditional remedies.
