Wheat is the most important crop in Rabi season. This time, due to good rains and Mentha storm in October, there is sufficient moisture in the fields, due to which the soil condition has become very favorable for wheat cultivation. Agricultural expert Dr. Akhilesh Shah said that with proper moisture, right variety and timely sowing, farmers can get better production. This is the reason why farmers are currently busy preparing wheat with full enthusiasm.
How to sow wheat
For successful wheat crop, good ploughing, leveling and pre-sowing preparation of the field is very important. In moist fields, do light plowing to make the soil loose, so that the seeds can set properly. Be sure to treat the seeds so that they do not get infected with diseases. At the time of sowing, the quantity of 100 kg seeds per hectare is considered suitable. By line sowing, plants get adequate space and weeding also becomes easier with machines. If there is moisture in the field, there is no need for irrigation and germination is better.
Which variety to choose?
Selection of variety before sowing is very important. According to experts, DBW-187 is considered to be the most suitable variety for the climate and soil of this region, which is also known by the farmers as Karan Vandana. This variety is famous for being disease resistant and giving high production. With proper management it has the capacity to yield about 32 quintals per acre. In times of changing weather and irregular temperatures, this variety is proving to be a safe and profitable option for farmers.
right time of sowing
This year, due to good rainfall and moisture in the fields, the time is suitable for sowing. He said that timely sowing of wheat is the key to higher production. Farmers will get best results if they sow by 10th December. However, in fields where there is more moisture, those farmers can sow till December 15. Late sowing has the effect of increasing temperature, which may reduce production. Therefore, sowing in the recommended period is most beneficial for the crop.
