5000 broccoli seedlings planted in ten thousand kattas
He told that this time 5000 broccoli has been planted in about 10 acres of land. Planting is completed in about 20 days and after this, within 65 to 80 days, broccoli becomes completely ready and ready for harvesting. He says that among the improved varieties of broccoli, Pusa Broccoli, KTS, Lucky, Fiesta, Taho, Palam and Marathon are very much liked, which are easily available in the market.
It is important to spray the right medicine from time to time.
According to Basant Ram, spraying medicine from time to time is very important for good yield of broccoli. For this, balanced use of DPA and potash is done so that the size of the flower can be improved. Also, by adding organic fertilizer of cow dung, the growth of plants becomes even better. Since all these varieties are disease resistant, the risk of loss to the farmer is less.
Good prices are available in the market
He said that the market demand for broccoli in Jharia area is also quite high. After harvesting, the price per piece is Rs 70 to 90, due to which the farmer gets good profit. Broccoli is mainly used as salad, bhujia and healthy vegetable. This is the reason why its consumption is continuously increasing.
entire family dependent on farming
Basant Ram says that this is the third generation to do farming on his land. They grow different vegetables in every season and sell them in the markets of Dhanbad and near different temples. His entire family depends on his income from this.
