BCA is taught in four colleges of Sitamarhi, but since the examination center is in BRA Bihar University located in Muzaffarpur, students have to travel 70 km.
BCA course has been running in four colleges of Sitamarhi district for years, but due to lack of arrangement of examination center at the local level, the students have to face the most problems. All the semester examinations of BCA are conducted at BRA Bihar University located in Muzaffarpur, to reach where students have to travel more than 70 kilometers. Students say that this system of studying in Sitamarhi and taking exams outside is a big problem for the children of poor and ordinary families.
Sujit Kumar, Akash Kumar and Nishant Priyadarshi say that during exam days, travel, crowding, worry about reaching on time and unnecessary expenses increase mental pressure. Many times, when the exam date falls early in the morning, students have to reach Muzaffarpur on the very first day and stay there, which is financially costly. He says that if both studies and examinations are conducted in the district, then students from ordinary families will also be able to pursue higher education without any stress.
Examination system should be local: Students
Shalu Kumari and Divya Bharti say that time is wasted in going to Muzaffarpur to take the exam and one has to go through security and transportation problems. Especially for girl students, traveling long distances in the early morning seems unsafe. The students demanded that the BCA examination center should be made in Sitamarhi itself, so that the process from studies to examination can be simple and safe. He said that especially girls face a lot of problems whose parents do not like to send them abroad. If arrangements are made for MCA then you can study here only.
Career also affected due to lack of MCA facility
BCA studies are going on in the district, but due to lack of MCA facilities and compulsion to give the exam outside, the career of many students hangs in the balance. Students say that if MCA is started in the district and BCA exams are also held here, then the youth coming from ordinary homes will also be able to strengthen their thinking of “going up” and will get the courage to dream big.
What did the college administration say?
Principal of SRK Goenka College, Dr. Om Prakash Rai said that a proposal is being sent to the university for approval of professional and technical courses. He said that demands will also be placed at the university level regarding the examination system of BCA. The college is making serious efforts towards starting MCA and other higher technical courses.
