Shamli Police Encounter: Late on Monday night, the team of Sahamli Police and SOG killed Mithun, the leader of Bawariya Gang, who had a reward of Rs. 1.25 lakh, in an encounter. In this encounter, the head constable of SOG was also injured by bullet.
On receiving information about the incident, SP Narendra Pratap Singh and ASP Sumit Shukla immediately reached the spot with the police force. SP said that information was received late in the night that members of Bavariya gang were preparing for some major incident on Vedkhedi-Mansoora road. A few hours before this, after committing the robbery of a bike-riding couple in Kandhla police station area, notorious criminal Mithun was hiding in the forest with his partner Rahul. Based on the information, a joint team of Jhinjhana Police and SOG cordoned off the area. As soon as the miscreants saw the police, they started firing indiscriminately. In retaliation, the notorious Mithun was killed. The police is continuously combing in search of the criminal Rahul who is absconding from the spot.
A carbine and Made in Italy pistol recovered
Injured head constable Harvinder has been referred from Oon CHC to the district hospital, where his treatment is going on. Police have recovered a carbine and a Made in Italy pistol from the miscreant from the spot. SP said that a reward of Rs 1 lakh was declared on Mithun from Shamli and Rs 25 thousand from Baghpat police. During the Kanwar Yatra, he had committed the robbery of a woman in Baghpat. More than 20 cases including murder, robbery and gangsterism are registered against him. Investigation has revealed that after the incident, Mithun used to take shelter in many states including Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, South Delhi, Tamil Nadu. He committed crimes by assuming different names in many states and many cases are registered against him in Tamil Nadu also.
Was wanted in many states
In the year 2017, his name also came up in the famous Bharat Kumar murder case of Jhinjhana. Mithun was trying to spread his terror in many states including Delhi, Punjab, West UP, Tamil Nadu, but in a late night encounter, Shamli police put an end to his terror. The police have now started searching for the absconding criminal Rahul and other gang members.
