Local 18 spoke to agriculture expert Khulay Joshi about diseases affecting chillies. Khulay Joshi told that damping off happens when while preparing the plants, the stem starts rotting and all the plants bend and fall. Due to this, plants do not survive and suffer a lot of damage. To avoid this, the nursery should be prepared only after treating the seeds with Trichoderma or Thrips. At the same time, it can also be a soil borne disease, for this the soil should be treated with sunlight.
After this, black spots appear on the leaves in leaf blight. This fungus stops the growth of the plant. This is a fungus caused disease. To prevent this, you can prevent it by spraying Mancozeb at the rate of two to two and a half grams per liter of water. Along with this, root rot disease also occurs in it. For this, prevention can be done by making a solution of Carbendazim in one gram per liter of water and spraying it.
In powdery mildew, a powder-like structure is visible on the leaves. This is the growth of fungus. For this, sulfur based fungicide should be sprayed at the rate of two grams per liter of water. White fly spreads the mosaic virus. To prevent this, yellow spots will appear on the leaves. For this white fly should be stopped. This disease can be prevented by making a solution of Imidacloprid and Neem oil at 0.5 ml per liter of water and spraying it every eight to ten days.
