In the closing ceremony of Bastar Olympics 2025, Amit Shah said that in five years, Bastar will be made the most developed tribal division of the country. He reiterated the goal of Naxal-free Bastar by March 2026. A record number of players participated in the event.
Jagdalpur. The closing ceremony of Bastar Olympics 2025, organized with the inspiring resolution of ‘Karsay ta Bastar, Barsay ta Bastar’, became historic in Jagdalpur. From this platform, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid out a roadmap for the future of Bastar, which goes beyond sports events and tells the story of development and trust. Amit Shah said that in the coming five years, Bastar will be made the most developed tribal division of the country. He also clarified that Bastar, which was once considered the stronghold of Naxalism, is now creating an atmosphere of sports, development and trust. Bastar Olympics has proved that this region can make its mark in the sports field by coming out of the gun culture.
The three-day Bastar Olympics ran from December 11 to 13, in which a record number of players from remote and Naxal-affected villages participated. The participation of youth, especially daughters, in this event strengthened the government’s belief that sports has been considered a means of social change. Amit Shah told the stage that Bastar Olympics is not just a competition but has taken the form of a social movement against Naxalism. He said that the target has been set to make the country Naxal free by March 31, 2026 and Bastar will play a decisive role in it. According to him, the Central and State governments together are committed to providing basic facilities to every village of Bastar.
There is no dearth of talent among the youth of Bastar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the closing ceremony held in Jagdalpur as the chief guest. The program was presided over by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. State government ministers, senior officials and a large number of players were present on the stage. Encouraging the players, Amit Shah said that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of Bastar, all that is needed is to provide the right platform and opportunity.
Strictness on Naxalism, it will be eliminated by March 2026
Amit Shah laid out the clearest timeline on Naxalism regarding Bastar. He said that once Naxalites were spreading their wings here, but now the situation is changing rapidly. Shah said that Bastar will be made a Naxal-free area by March 2026. For this, work is being done simultaneously on both security and development fronts. He assured that the government wants a permanent solution through development, not violence.
