December Bank Holidays: The month of December is about to begin, in which bank customers may have to face some problems. This is because banks will remain closed for 18 days this month. In such a situation, if you are thinking of handling any bank related work, then you need to plan in advance.
Since bank holidays sometimes vary from state to state due to being associated with regional and local festivals, it is not necessary that the entire 19 days remain the same across the country. But it is important to know on which days the branches will be closed at your place. According to the holiday list of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), here you are being given complete information about the holiday list in the month of December.

- December 1 (Monday) – There will be a holiday in banks in Itanagar and Kohima on Inauguration Day/Indigenous Faith Day.
- December 3 (Wednesday) – Banks will remain closed in Goa on account of St. Francis Xavier, which is celebrated in honor of the 16th century Spanish Jesuit missionary.
- There will be a bank holiday on 7th December, Sunday.
- 12 December (Friday) – Banks will remain closed in Shillong due to the death anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma.
- Banks will remain closed across the country due to 13th December being the second Saturday.
- There will be Sunday holiday across the country on 14th December.
- 18 December (Thursday) – Due to the death anniversary of U Soso Tham, there will be a bank holiday in Shillong on this day also.
- 19 December (Friday) – Goa Liberation Day is celebrated on this day, hence banks will remain closed in Panaji.
- December 20 (Saturday) and December 22 (Monday) – New Year celebrations will be held in Sikkim, which also includes the festival of Losung or Namsung. Due to this, banks in Sikkim will remain closed for three consecutive days.
- There will be a Sunday holiday on 21st December.
- 24 December (Wednesday) – Due to Christmas Eve, banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Kohima and Shillong on this date, while business will continue as normal in the rest of the country.
- 25 December (Thursday) – Banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Christmas.
- 26 December (Friday) – Banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Kohima and Shillong due to Christmas celebrations.
- 27 December (Saturday) – Banks will remain closed in Kohima due to Christmas. Apart from this, it will be the fourth Saturday of the month so banks will remain closed in the rest of the country also.
- There will be Sunday holiday in banks across the country on 28th December.
- December 30 (Tuesday) – There will be a bank holiday in Shillong due to the death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah.
- December 31 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in Aizawl and Imphal due to New Year Eve and Imoinu Iratpa.
There is no need to panic after seeing the long list of holidays because during this time you will be able to use UPI payment, mobile app and other digital banking services. However, if you have to visit the branch for things like check or locker, then it is wise to plan in advance.
