Bank Holiday 5 November: Banks are going to remain closed for a total of 11 days in the month of November. These include big festivals like Guru Nanak Jayanti, some local festivals and weekend holidays. Public holidays and regional holidays are different in every state and union territory and bank holidays are also determined accordingly. Today, on 5th November, the whole country is celebrating Prakash Parv, but if you are going to do any bank work on this day, then first know that banks are completely closed in many cities today.
According to the official list of RBI, there will be a holiday in banks of many cities today due to Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartik Purnima.
Where will banks remain closed on Guru Nanak Jayanti?
Today, on Guru Nanak Jayanti, there will be a bank holiday in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar. Apart from this, there will be bank holiday in Lucknow-Kanpur also.
According to RBI rules, banks are closed on all Sundays every month and the second and fourth Saturdays are also bank holidays. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 are Sundays in November. Therefore, there will be bank holidays on these days and the second Saturday is on 8th and the fourth is on 22nd, due to which banks will remain closed.

Today being a bank holiday, you can easily do bank related work. For this you can use UPI or online banking. You can withdraw cash from bank ATM. However, during the holiday, some bank services which can be done only by visiting the bank branch like depositing large cash, clearing checks or making demand draft will not be available.
