A little wheat flour or rava is mixed with gram flour in a mixing bowl, which makes chilla light and crispy. The batter is prepared by adding onions, ginger and green chillies along with spices like turmeric, red chilli, salt and celery. The batter is kept neither too thin nor too thick so that it is easy to spread on the pan and the chilla is formed in the right shape.
When the pan is hot, light oil is applied on it and the prepared batter is spread with the help of a ladle. It is important to fry it on medium flame until it turns golden from both the sides, so that its taste and crispness remains. Similarly, all the chillies are prepared one by one.
Serve with favorite dip
If prepared Palak Chilla is served with green chutney, tomato sauce or curd, its taste further increases. If desired, it can be made more nutritious by filling grated cheese or fine vegetables inside it.
