The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority said, avalanches are expected to occur above 2500 meters in Ganderbal district with medium danger level in the next 24 hours. There is a possibility of avalanches above 2500 meters in Anantnag, Bandipur, Baramulla, Doda, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Kupwara, Poonch and Ramban districts in the next 24 hours. People living in these areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid going to avalanche prone areas.
Intermittent light snowfall occurred in some areas in the early hours of Saturday amid a drop in the minimum temperature in most parts of the Kashmir Valley. The officers provided this information. According to officials, some areas of the Kashmir Valley, especially in the higher reaches, received light snowfall in the early hours of Saturday. He said Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district received 13 inches of snowfall, Kokernag eight inches, Qazigund six inches and Shopian four inches in the last 24 hours.
According to officials, there was light snowfall in Srinagar, Ganderbal and some other plains. He told that there was intermittent rain in some other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Barring Srinagar and Qazigund, the minimum temperature dropped everywhere on Friday night. The mercury in Srinagar dropped from minus 0.1 degree Celsius a night earlier to minus 0.2 degree Celsius. Qazigund, the gateway to the valley, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 2.8 degrees Celsius in Kupwara.
Pahalgam, the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius. At the same time, Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius. The famous ski-resort town (Gulmarg) was the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir.
