In Tripura, a man named Shohail Mia shot his girlfriend dead. Actually, Shohail was living in a relationship with his girlfriend Jannat Akhtar for many years. The girl’s family had fixed Jannat’s marriage at some other place, due to which the angry young man took such a drastic step. The incident took place in Holashet area of Udaipur, police is investigating it.

Love and death came to a dreadful end in Gomti district of Tripura. 26 year old Shohail Miyan first shot his girlfriend Jannat Akhtar (aged around 22) to death and then shot himself with the same weapon. The bodies of both were found inside a car on Wednesday evening. This heart-wrenching incident happened in Holashet area of RK Pur police station area of Udaipur.
According to the police, both were in a relationship for the last several years. Shohail was a resident of Shalgara and Jannat was a resident of Shilgati village. Both their families had fixed their marriage somewhere else. Both were very upset with this decision of the family. Police believe that for this reason Shohail first shot Jannat and then committed suicide.
Sohail was screaming for help
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debanjali Roy said, ‘At around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, we received information that there was firing in Holashet. When the police team reached the spot, Jannat’s body was found in a car, while Shohail was badly injured and screaming for help. He was immediately taken to Gomti District Hospital, but he died on the way.
Pistol found 20 meters away
Police have recovered a country-made pistol about 20 meters away from the car. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Shohail first fired three bullets at Jannat, out of which two hit the chest and one hit the head. After this he shot himself in the head. The bodies of both have been sent to Agartala Medical College for post-mortem.

SDPO said, ‘At present the matter seems to be related to love affair, but we are not ruling out the involvement of a third person. Investigation is being done from every angle. The mobile phones of both have been confiscated. Soon the whole picture will become clear. Jannat’s family is in bad condition and crying. There is mourning in Shohail’s house also. Both the families have not made any allegations against each other, they just said that the children did not understand.
