Parliament Winter Session: On Thursday, the fourth day of the winter session of Parliament, opposition MPs cornered the central government on serious issues related to security, fake medicine syndicate and poor infrastructure. At the same time, the ruling party’s sharp allegations ranging from the demand for CCTV at religious places to deaths due to poisonous cough syrup, created an uproar in the House. On the other hand, MPs also increased the pressure on the government to take strict action on pollution and road safety.
BJP MP from Meerut, Arun Govil, while raising an important issue related to national security in the Lok Sabha, said that CCTVs have been installed in temples and churches across the country, but the absence of cameras in mosques and madrassas is a big security threat. He said, ‘If CCTV can be installed in mosques and madrassas in Saudi Arabia, then why not in India? The safety of 140 crore Indians is paramount. Security is not religious. Govil demanded the government to make a clear policy on this subject.
Machhilishahr MP Saroj raised serious questions in the Parliament on the death of children due to poisonous cough syrup. He alleged that, ‘A dangerous syndicate of codeine based fake cough syrup is running across the country and people associated with the government are also said to be involved in it.’ He told that this network is active in many states including Banaras, only 4 FIRs have been registered in Jaunpur. Many children also died in October.
MP Saroj said that until this ‘corrupt system and political patronage’ is not exposed, the trade of fake medicines will not stop. He demanded a high level investigation and strict action.
On the fourth day of the winter session, many opposition parties including SP demonstrated at Makar Dwar regarding the poisonous air of Delhi. The MPs carried masks and placards and demanded a discussion on air pollution in the House.
Dharmendra Yadav said that there is terror of ‘toll mafia’ at Kotla toll plaza of Azamgarh. He said, ‘Barriers have been installed on the link road built for the local people. Even the school bus is stopped. This is hooliganism going on in the name of NHAI, it should be stopped.

SP MP Priya Saroj also slammed the government on the syndicate of fake cough syrup containing codeine and said that this is not a small matter but a serious health problem at the national level.
