Clove is considered an effective home remedy for toothache. An element called eugenol present in cloves helps in reducing pain and swelling and also has natural antiseptic properties. An element called allicin present in garlic has powerful antibacterial and pain-relieving properties, which help in reducing the bacteria causing infection and provide relief from pain. For this, grind a clove of garlic thoroughly, make a paste and apply it directly on the painful gum or tooth for a few minutes. Due to this, there is a gradual reduction in burning sensation or pain.
If there is unbearable pain in the gums, then both mint and onion are considered very effective as home remedies. The antimicrobial properties present in onion help in reducing the harmful bacteria present in the mouth, thereby providing relief from infection and pain. For this, a small piece of raw onion can be chewed lightly or kept on the painful tooth or gum for a few minutes. Mint has natural cooling and pain relieving properties. First dip the mint tea bag in lukewarm water, take it out and then after it cools down a bit, place it on the painful tooth or gum. This provides considerable relief from burning sensation, swelling and pain.
Paste made from hibiscus leaves and turmeric is considered very helpful in reducing swelling and infection of gums. Hibiscus leaves have natural anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe the irritation and pain of the gums. Curcumin present in turmeric is an effective antiseptic and antibacterial element, which helps in eliminating the bacteria that cause infection. To make this paste, grind some fresh hibiscus leaves and add a little turmeric to it. Apply the prepared paste gently on the gums and leave it for a few minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. The paste made by mixing both ginger and red chilli helps in providing natural relief from tooth and gum pain. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, while the capsaicin present in red chili is helpful in reducing pain signs. Together, these two help in eliminating bacteria and preventing the spread of infection. To make this paste, grind some ginger and add a very small amount of red chili powder to it. Carefully apply the prepared paste on the painful area and leave it for a few minutes, then clean the mouth thoroughly.
