simple tips to identify fake roasted chana: These days, when you go to buy anything from the market, you cannot understand which thing is real and which is fake. When you go shopping in the market, it suddenly becomes very difficult to differentiate between pure and impure. Whatever looks fresh and clean to you from outside, you bring it home. Till now you must have heard about adulteration in things like khoya, ghee, cheese, milk, sweets, spices etc., but now gram has also been included in it. Yes, Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi recently said that roasted gram contains a dangerous synthetic dye called Auramine. This chemical is being used to give golden, yellow color to gram and make it look crisp. It is harmful for health, because using it in food increases the risk of cancer.
Now any person will avoid eating roasted gram after hearing about the presence of such dangerous chemicals. However, roasted gram is very healthy for health. It is considered a perfect and healthy snack. It is rich in protein. In such a situation, if you like to eat gram, then you can differentiate between real and fake roasted gram at home in this way.
How to differentiate between real and fake roasted gram?
– Real gram is small and its color is brown. It does not break easily when pressed. Whereas, fake gram is bigger in size, brighter yellow in color and very crunchy.
– Identify the quality of gram in water. For this, put some gram in a glass of water and stir it. If the color of water becomes milky or clear then understand that some chemical has been mixed in it. If the water is clear then you have bought pure gram.
– Keep some gram in a cloth or tissue paper. Rub it, if red or yellow stain appears on white cloth or tissue paper, then understand that artificial color has been added to it. If you do not see any stain or color then understand that you have bought real gram.
– You can also find out by smelling whether any chemical has been mixed in gram or not. If there is a smell like chemical, chalk or soap, then the gram has been adulterated. If it smells like soil, then understand that the gram is pure and edible.
– Heat some gram in a pan without adding oil. If any chemical has been mixed then pungent chemical smoke will come out during roasting. If there is a natural roasted aroma then the gram is real and pure.
