It is extremely contagious. Spread through infected animal contact, saliva, or air. Animals affected by this disease become unable to walk. The spread of infection occurs through direct contact, contaminated equipment, feed, water, air and humans. L Singh told that Foot and Mouth is a viral disease, which occurs mainly in cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep, pigs and other hoofed animals. Its main symptoms are high fever in animals which lasts for 2 to 3 days, ulcers in the mouth, wounds in the hoofs, difficulty in walking, lameness, excessive salivation from the mouth, food intake gets reduced which leads to weakness and weight loss, there is a huge reduction in milk production in pregnant females. There is a possibility of miscarriage.
Get animals vaccinated on time
Dr. Singh told about its prevention and prevention measures that under the National Animal Disease Control, vaccination is done twice a year by the Government of India to prevent foot-and-mouth disease. Under which there are 2 lakh 25 thousand cows, buffaloes and sheep animals in Janjgir Champa district. Who is being vaccinated. For which the doctors of the veterinary department are visiting every house and vaccinating. An appeal has been made to the cattle farmers.
