Bilaspur News: Despite pre-board exams of 10th and 12th, students protested today (Wednesday). He said that education is possible only when they get security, health and basic facilities. The students said that the agitation will continue until their demands are met.

The matter has now heated up after the death under suspicious circumstances of 10th class student Harshit Yadav two days ago at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Malhar in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. On Wednesday, hundreds of students took to the streets against the school management and protested for several hours. Alleging lack of medical facilities, poor hostel arrangements and neglect of the systems, the students said that they will not stop the agitation until there is improvement. Harshit Yadav, a resident of Belgahna, was studying in class 10th in Navodaya Vidyalaya and lived in a hostel. According to family members, even after the student’s health deteriorated, timely treatment was not available.
Since an ambulance was not available to Harshit, his father had to tie the student to the bike and take him to the hospital. Later he died during treatment. The family called it clear negligence.

When no solution or steps were taken by the management two days after the death, the students decided to protest collectively today. They have been protesting sitting outside the school gate since morning. He says that complaints have been made for years but the hearing was never held.
The condition of the hostel is like ruins.
Students told that the condition of the hostel is very bad. No painting has been done in last 7 years, toilets are dilapidated, cleanliness is very poor and even students lose their sleep due to bedbugs and rats. Only three sweepers are appointed for 500 students. Many times incidents like ceiling fans falling have also happened.

The father and guardians of the deceased student have accused the Navodaya Vidyalaya management of negligence, neglect and not improving the system. He has demanded action against the culprits and immediate improvement of hostel, mess and medical arrangements.
